We can divide red gram growing regions into four different parts, and for each region, there are different varieties of Red Gram according to the climatic condition. Usually, we cultivate red gram as rabi crops and in some regions as Kharif crops.

  • North-Western Zone: States that come under this zone are Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, J & K.
  • North-Eastern Zone: States that come under this zone are Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa, and Assam.
  • Central Zone: States that come under this zone are Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
  • Peninsular Zone: States that come under this zone are Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka.
